Take Our Read Between the Times Challenge

Set a Reading Record! Are you going to help team Kid or team Adult win our Read Between the Times challenge? Whatever your allegiance, join us Saturday, November 9 from noon to 4pm as we transform Marvin Auditorium into a reading oasis for a community read-in. We’ll have comfy reading spots set up. And cuddle up and read a story to the R.E.A.D. dogs during part of the afternoon.

Last year the kids read more hours than the adults in this community read-in. All together, you read almost 56 hours. This year we challenge you to read even more! So, stop into Marvin Auditorium between 12pm and 4pm, pick up a book from our display in the room or read one of your own.

Enjoy some popcorn, relax and listen to storytimes for the younger sect at 1pm and 3pm or listen to a reading of Discworld at 2pm.

Take a book to keep while supplies last. All participants will be entered drawings. One adult and one child will take home a gift certificate to the Chandler Booktique and one lucky reader will win our Grand Prize, an ereader (don’t have to be present to win).

If you choose to accept this challenge, you will have fun and support your team in our efforts to read even more.

Betty Jean is a youth librarian who loves sharing her love of reading and knows the importance of books to prepare for the future. “Reading the right sorts of books can prepare one, mentally, for a heck of a lot in this world. I, myself, feel fully prepared to meet an alien, time travel, visit a parallel dimension, find a mermaid in the ocean, live in a world where magic has supplanted technology, and survive the apocalypse….hopefully not ending up in a dystopia." – Spring Lea Henry
