Sign up for Podcamp Topeka, a Techie Unconference, Oct. 22

On October 22, social media movers and shakers, bloggers, podcasters, marketers and others will convene on the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library for a day of networking and information sharing – and some fun and food too. Sign up at The conference is a value at just $10, and that covers breakfast and lunch.

The event runs from 8:30am to 4:00pm with a keynote speech by Ben Smith, who consults with businesses around the country on social and new media as the principal of Social: IRL, a boutique social and new media agency based in Lawrence.

“It brings together a lot of tech-minded people from in and around the community. We teach each other about how we use social media, blogs, websites, video and audio,” said David Lee King, organizer for the event. “It’s your opportunity to meet people face-to-face, which of course doesn’t necessarily happen that often in social media, and learn more about how to use new tools for your job or yourself.”

Breakouts cover such topics as creating a blog using WordPress, aligning your social media strategies with your business plans, forming a social media club and creating video and publishing it using BlipTV.

Podcamp Topeka offers those marketing themselves or their business on the web some tools to better penetrate their target markets using social and new media. Meet people who care about engaging in the social media world as much as you do. Learn tricks from the pros – mostly aimed at those with an intermediate to advanced understanding of technology and social media.

Podcamp Topeka, a program of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, is made possible with help from our sponsors: AWeber Communications,, PC911, jones huyett Partners and Wildheart Social Media. If you would like to attend Podcamp Topeka, log on to for more information.
