Read the Book, See the Show: Miss Nelson is Missing

The book is a favorite of kindergarten through third grade students and has been voted one of the most memorable books of the century.

The Topeka Civic Theatre & Academy Theatre for Young Audiences musical, Miss Nelson is Missing, is based upon the book of the same title by Harry Allard and illustrated by James Edward Marshall. The book is one in a series of three in which the dictator-like substitute teacher, Viola Swamp, demands work and obedience. 

Catch the performance at the TCTA Oldfather Theatre April 5 through 15. Tickets are available online or by phone 785-357-5211. At the library preview on April 4, the cast will present a single scene. The audience is encouraged to participate in an activity following the reading of the book. In addition, the children are invited to make a take-home craft.

  1. I just tried to buy tickets and they don’t go on sale for this show until March 27th. It looks like a fun outing to take my kids though – thanks for the heads up!
