Enjoy Live Jazz at the Library April 13

Come hear Topeka’s very own Dixieland Band in concert April 13, 2014 at 3pm in Marvin Auditorium.

Beloved local musician Cliff Manning will direct the band, performing Dixieland, jazz and pop standards from the 1920s to the 1970s. Who knows, we may have to open up a dance floor to accommodate those who’ll want to do more than just toe-tapping!

A popular group with library patrons, the Band has played with popular success at two previous library events, the “Call of Duty” Artwalk Dance and the “Great Gala” at the Overland Station which celebrated the library’s “Great Gatsby” Big Read. Recent performances by the Band include programs at the National Guard Museum, the Top of the Tower, and the Capitol Plaza Hotel.  Classical 7 piece Jazz Orchestra: Clarinet-saxophone, Trumpet-flugel horn,  Trombone, Banjo-guitar, Piano, Bass, and Drums.

Puttin’ on the Ritz, Honey Suckle Rose, Ain’t Misbehavin, 5 Foot 2, Eyes of Blue, Alexander’s Rag Time Band are some of the tunes the band will play.

Members include Clifford Manning, Jerry Boster, Bob Glick, Tim Owen, Steve Easterday, and Dave Overmeier.

  1. It would be great if you could check for “competing” events before scheduling programs. The Topeka Jazz Workshop concert series (which set its schedule last summer) will be having the last concert of the year at this EXACT TIME and DATE. So 100 or so people who would loved to have attended this concert won’t be able to come.
