The Space Race - an Epic Battle

Wednesday, August 7, 2019 | 7-8pm | Marvin Auditorium 101C Adults

The conquest of space became a battleground for the U.S. and the U.S.S.R..  In the late 1950s and through the 1960s two superpowers waged a Cold War over which ideology would rule the world. This conflict was fought peacefully in various arenas. For both countries the stakes were high and the prize valuable. The goal was to be the first nation to land on the moon. The contest ended 50 years ago this summer with Americans taking the first step on the moon. Dr. Sean Kalic a professor of history from the Command Staff College in Leavenworth, KS will look back at those memorable days.
