Part-time Library Associate

Two part-time (20 hours per week) positions currently available


Circulate Library materials and maintain records such as check out and check in of materials. Provide customer service such as issuing library cards, answer inquiries regarding library account records, direct customers to appropriate service area or staff, provide general Library information, handle emergencies, select and/or mail material. Operate switchboard/telephones effectively. Perform data entry tasks that relate to the status of patrons, equipment and materials.  Collect appropriate fines or fees.  Perform mail duties such as circulation notices and reservations. Check shelves for materials that may have returned but were not checked in. This half-time position will require weekend and evening hours.


Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Applicants must be detail-oriented, have the ability to work as a team member and the ability to demonstrate good customer service skills when meeting the public; the ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment; and competent computer skills including Microsoft Office and database applications. Previous experience in customer service is preferred. This medium work position requires bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force when pushing/pulling materials, reaching, the ability to climb stairs, talking on the telephone, stationary work at a computer terminal, and the ability to work to the assigned schedule.

A pre-and/or post-employment drug screen, a criminal history record check, and physical capacity testing are required as a condition of employment.


Pay range begins at $10.49 per hour.  In addition the library offers excellent benefits including health & dental insurance, retirement through KPERS, and vacation and sick leave.
