2Book Topeka: Aech’s Basement

Welcome to Aech’s basement from Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. It’s the year 2044 and reality is an ugly place. Teenager Wade Watts spends most of his time in the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. This includes time in his friend Aech’s virtual basement hangout that’s decorated with 1980s memorabilia and games in tribute to the creator of OASIS who was obsessed with the ‘80s. Wade and Aech have devoted their lives to solving the OASIS puzzles that can lead to power and fortune.

Experience ’80s pop culture and the beginnings of the video gaming subculture in this immersive front gallery exhibit. 2Book Topeka: Aech’s Basement is on display from Feb 2 – March 11.
