Weird and Wacky Festivals: July 2014

From comic books shows to chili cook-offs, fun fairs and festivals are held all across America. Whatever your interest, I’m sure someone, somewhere is celebrating it.

California Wine Festival-Santa Barbara, CA, July 17-19

The best from California wineries are on display at this ultimate wine tasting.  Relax in the coastal climate while enjoying a favorite vintage, sample gourmet food and listening to live music.  For this three day event, passes are available at different price levels.

Minneapolis Aquatennial-Minneapolis, MN, July 18-26

Minnesota is often called the “Land of 10,000 Lakes”.  So it’s only natural that citizens celebrate all the fun that can be had on the water.  This festival, now in it’s 75th, has everything from water ski shows to sand castle contests, log rolling competitions to milk carton boat races.  Not to mention the land based parades, ballgames and concerts.

Comic-Con International-San Diego, CA July 24-27

Every year, thousands of fans of science fiction, fantasy and pop culture attend this comic-con to end all comic-cons.  Of course, I’ve been trying to secure tickets for the past four years (read my blog post).  If you happen to get tickets…congratulations!
