Fall is upon us, and not only are the leaves soon to change, but so to is the sports calendar. And while it’s nice to enjoy a Saturday afternoon watching college football on the couch, it’s also a lot of fun to get out and see some of the local high school and college teams compete. Even if you don’t have a specific rooting interest, it can be a fun way to spend an afternoon or evening with family and friends. And it’s often times more affordable than going to see a professional or major college team. Here are several of the fall sports schedules for local teams I would encourage you to check out:
Washburn University Fall Sports Schedule:
Ichabod Football – Ranked 18th in preseason Top 25 poll
Shawnee County High Schools – Fall Sports Schedule:
Hayden – football, volleyball
Highland Park – football, volleyball
Rossville – football, volleyball
Seaman – football, volleyball
Shawnee Heights – football, volleyball
Silver Lake – football, volleyball
Topeka High – football, volleyball
Topeka West – football, volleyball
Washburn Rural – football, volleyball
Also, don’t forget that coming up next Thursday, September 1, is the draft for the library’s first ever fantasy football league. We will meet in the Hughes Room 205 from 6:00-8:30. If you’re interested in joining, you’ll need to sign up no later than Friday, August 26. You can sign up at the Red Carpet Desk, by calling 580-4545, or by sending an email to nhohl@tscpl.org. We look forward to seeing you there!
