The mission of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library Community Information Service is to provide information and referral service about local non-profit agencies, services and organizations.
This service provides information about community agencies and services to residents of Topeka and Shawnee County. Agency information is maintained in our community resources catalog and is updated yearly. Calendars of local and regional events, local directories and a CIS pamphlet file are also available in the Library.
Agencies that have a not-for-profit status or offer a not-for-profit service are included in the CIS files. Note: Agencies may charge to defray the cost of service.
Current materials, including brochures, announcements and notices, are displayed in the Library's Adult Services Area. CIS display areas are available for public distribution of brochures and newsletters from nonprofit organizations. All materials for display must be submitted to the CIS staff.
Library staff members will request a patron's name and telephone number only when it is necessary for referral. All personal information is confidential.
Formerly Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD) Community information and assistance is available for those patrons with a hearing impairment by calling the Library's TTY telephone number, 785-580-4544.
