In Topeka, few people are remembered more fondly than Zula Bennington Greene, the longtime columnist for the Topeka Capital-Journal. Now, nearly a quarter-century after her death, Woodley Press is publishing Peggy of the Flint Hills, a beautiful memoir of her childhood and young adulthood that Greene wrote during her last years.
Join her daughter, Dorothy Hanger, and Eric McHenry of Washburn University as they read from the book. Books will be available for sale and a book signing will follow.

This is truly a memoir worth reading. Peggy’s story has the great human elements of humor, loss, and triumph, and is written with a strong a distinctive voice that her readers will likely find familiar.
William Allen White wrote, “It is people who look at things like Peggy does who really make this life worthwhile. A pair of eyes like Peggy has is worth far more than a college education or a trip around the world. She can get more out of life staying at home than most people can traveling.”
