What distinguishes an accipiter from a buteo? How do you know if the bird of prey visiting your yard and checking out the smaller birds at the feeder is a Sharp-shinned Hawk or a Cooper’s Hawk? What field marks and behaviors should you pay attention to when you’re trying to identify a hawk in flight?
This Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Chuck Otte, President of the Kansas Ornithological Society, will present tips to help you learn how to identify hawks seen in Kansas. Bring your questions and plan to learn something new! This event, in Marvin Auditorium 101BC, is co-sponsored by the Topeka Audubon Society. All ages welcome.
