Sunnyside Up Saturday’s – Make & Take program was all about Quilts. Kids created small fabric quilts that could be a doll blanket or a wall hanging.
Shapes out of paper could create colorful quilt blocks. Samples of many common quilt patterns were available for inspiration. Examples were Grandmas Garden and Spinning Star.
Testing their sewing skills the kids could stitch patterns on a burlap book mark with yarn and a plastic needle.
It was a fun morning for all and a great way to commemorate National Quilting Day.

Thanks for the dltaies on this. Glad I could help encourage you to do it. I have done it as a solo observer and with another person. It’s better with two so one can talk to the volunteer, while the other writes everything down, but it’s certainly do-able with one. I also found that I would forget to write down time elapsed.Usability testing like this can be very humbling and provides such a good perspective of how the stuff we build looks to the people who are supposed to be benefiting from it. I’m no expert in the field, but I’m glad I have done a little testing like this for what I can learn from our users.BTW, we certainly did it low-tech here, but I did have some gift certificates for local restaurants or the campus bookstore or the like. It’s important to give them something for their time, but I’d certainly be happy with chocolate. I never did get that chocolate croissant I was going on about last month…
