Grab some carpet and let us entertain you with stories that will leave you wanting more. Be prepared to enjoy storytellers’ wit and senses of humor as you hear a different story each week. Readapalooza is a storytime for kids grade 2-5. (At the same time, Preschool Storytime for the younger kids is held in Marvin Auditorium 101C.)

Different hosts will read fun and intriguing books to you and finish off with a crafty creation for you to keep. Each session of Readapalooza and Preschool Storytime will give you 30 minutes of credit toward completing your summer reading goal. Sign up for summer reading, if you haven’t already, at summerfest.tscpl.org. (Choose the Bee a Reader program, the Kids program or sign your kids up through the Adult program when you sign yourself up.)

Why Join our Readapalooza?
Readapalooza is a read-a-loud story experience with elements essential to the development of elementary-aged kids.

Goals:

  • Maintain/Increase oral reading fluency by modeling appropriate pace, phrasing, intonation and rhythm of speech
  • Generate logical responses to literal and critical thinking questions through reader modeled self-questioning while reading aloud
  • Maintain/Increase reading motivation by encouraging kid engagement with text
  • Begins using context to determine meaning of verbal and non-verbal cues such as appropriate audience etiquette
  • Answers single-idea questions related to the message
  • Remember a single message to complete a given task
