Stephanie Hall and Thad Hartman accept the library's awardStephanie Hall and Thad Hartman about to receive the trophy for Government Agency of ExcellenceThank you to the Community Resource Council for the 2012 Government Agency of Excellence award. The awards ceremony was held Monday, Oct. 22 at the Ramada.

We are truly honored. We were up against Topeka Zoological Park, Topeka Public Schools Speed Networking Program and Topeka Code Enforcement. In recent years, USD 501 Topeka Public Schools and Topeka Police Department’s Community Policing Unit have received the honor.

The library received a nice trophy, which will eventually be on display at the Information Desk.

The CRC’s Awards of Excellence honors and celebrates those individuals, businesses, non-profits and government agencies go further, enhance programs and aid more people.

In the nomination form, here’s a few passages written by the anonymous nominator:
“Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library is a resource for all Shawnee County citizens, young, old, employed, unemployed, college degrees or trying to pass the GED, readers and video gamers. There’s something for everyone.”

“New community members often state that TSCPL is the best library they have ever experienced. People who have left our community mention that the thing they miss the most in Topeka is the public library.”
