Book bargin shoppers can stuff brown grocery bags (provided) full of books for just $5 a bag at the Friends of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library Bag Day Book Sale Sat., April 23 from 10am–4pm. This one-day sale includes both hardbound and paperback books on all topics including children’s, religion, health, large print, mystery and suspense.

“Our sale is the day before Easter this year,” said Bobbie Pfeifer, Chandler Booktique manager. “You’ll be hunting for your favorite reads on tables stacked with bargins. Bring the whole family so everyone can find something to add the the bag.”

The Easter Bunny will be busy, but kids can have their picture taken with his cousin, Book-a-roo. Bring the kids and the camera!

The Bag Sale is held in Marvin Auditorium, but shoppers will also find bargins at the Chandler Booktique, a used book and gift store. The Booktique is open Monday through Thursday, 10 am until 8 pm, Friday 10 am until 5 pm, Saturday 10 am until 5 pm and Sunday 2 pm until 5 pm.

The annual Friends Book Sale is September 16-19, at Ag Hall, Kansas Expocentre will offer even more book bargins with more than 100,000 books, movies and music items to choose from.

The Friends of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library support library programs and services including Summerfest, Alice C. Sabatini Gallery art competitions, films, concerts and educational programs.
