What are we reading?

Thad just finished Lawrence Block’s The Burglar who Studied Spinoza. He is looking forward to reading Iain Levison’s Dog Eats Dog, and he also enjoyed Since the Layoffs and How to Rob an Armored Car by the same author.

Lissa recently read Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson as part of the library’s Literature with Lunch Book Discussion Group. Next month, that group will discuss The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler on June 13 from 1-2:30 pm (everyone welcome!)

Summerfest 2011

LeAnn PetrieLeAnn Petrie invites everyone in Shawnee County to register for the Summerfest reading program.

  • Kids, Teens, Adults and Groups can all participate in the program, which runs May 31 through July 29, 2011. Find out how Kids and Teens can receive prizes for each two hours of reading this summer at summerfest.tscpl.org. 
  • Read about programs in June and July at the library in the Connectnow schedule.
  • Plus! –Visit the library to see progress on the new murals being painted in the Kids area by artist and Digital Services Supervisor Michael Perkins.

Adventuremobile, Bookmobiles and Critter Club

Jayme LyonsJayme Lyons, Bookmobile Wrangler, talks about why to visit a bookmobile and what to expect to find there. The Adventuremobile in the summer also hosts a different “critter” each week for children and adults to visit and enjoy. Come see puppies, kittens, a snake, and more!
