Friday, June 24, is Take Your Dog to Work Day. This “holiday” has been celebrated since 1999, when Pet Sitters International created a special day to announce that dogs are great companions and to encourage people to adopt a pet from their local shelters. If you and your favorite canine are planning a trip to your workplace, you can download a handout called “Preparing Your Dog for the Office” from the Pet Sitters International website. (http://www.takeyourdog.com/downloads/2011-TYD-Preparing-Your-Dog.pdf) The site also offers seven rules for success and tips about how to win over your boss.
Remember to visit the Library’s Pets Neighborhood to find an excellent selection of books on dog training in case your canine companion needs a little behavior work before he goes to the office.
Let us know if you plan to take your dog to work. We would love to hear about Topeka companies who are participating in this day.
