Okay, maybe that title was a bit dramatic. But you do have a get a chance to visit with real live hermit crabs on the Adventuremobile from July 7 – 11.
Hermit crabs are crustaceans; as such they have jointed limbs, claws, a hard exoskeleton, eyes on stalks, and two sets of antennae. Hermit crabs make great pets that are fun and entertaining to watch. They are easy to care for and inexpensive. Groups of crabs (called casts) tend to be more active than individual crabs since they are social animals. They are nocturnal, so they are tpyically more activite in the evening and at night.
While you’re visiting the Adventuremobile don’t forget to get your Critter Card stamped. You can also log your reading time and pick up Summerfest prizes. Check the Adventuremobile schedule to find a stop near you.
*Note: On Thursdays and Fridays the weekly critter may leave the stop at 2:30pm due to schedule constraints.
