Double Dueling

Teen gaming has returned to the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library. On the 1st and 3rd Mondays from 4-6 pm in the Edge (teen room) young adults and adults will be able to duel other gamers whether it be Yu-gi-oh (11-18 yrs) or Magic the Gathering (14 + yrs).

Magic:The Gathering was the first collectible card game created by mathematics professor, Richard Garfield and introduced by Wizards of the Coast in 1993. There are approximately 12 million players as of 2011.

Each game represents a battle between mighty wizards, known as "planeswalkers", who employ the magical spells, items, and fantastic creatures depicted on individual Magic cards to defeat their opponents.

The original concept of the game relied on motifs of such role-playing games as Dungeons & Dragons. However, Magic has more complex rules and more cards than many other card games.

Yu-gi-oh "Game King" is a Japanese manga created by Kazuki Takahashi. It has become a franchise that includes multiple anime shows, a trading card game and many video games.

The fictional trading card game called Duel Monsters (originally know as Magic & Wizards) is where each player uses cards to duel each other in a mock battle of fantasy monsters.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game is the real world counterpart to this fictional game on which it is loosely based.
