We would also like to enlarge our collection of yearbooks from Topeka & Shawnee County elementary schools, middle schools, junior high schools and other high schools in the county. We often have requests for these materials but only have a few in the collection.
If you have a yearbook to donate, please call the Topeka Room at 785-580-4510, e-mail jmithen@tscpl.org or bring it by the Topeka Room on the second floor of the library and include your name and address with the donation. Donations of years not needed in the collection will be passed on to the Chandler Booktique, sold, and the proceeds used to purchase needed items.
Favorite quotes from people looking at our yearbook collection:
“Would you look at her hair?”
“You used to have more hair!”
“What was I thinking?”
“Grandpa, are you sure that’s you?”
“I can’t believe you wore that!”
“See, I told you I was a basketball star.”
“Why is everybody dressed the same?”
“You never told me you could play the trombone!”
Come visit us in the Topeka Room, upstairs overlooking the rotunda, and see what your quote will be when you look at our yearbook collection.

Good Monday to you:
I graduated from Highland Park High schooll in 1963 and would like to know where I may purchase a yearbook of that vintage for myself. Is it possiblel you would know of a yearbook for sale?
Please advise. At the least you may guide me in my search for such a yearbook.
Thank you. Have a great week.

For anyone interested in purchasing local yearbooks, there are a number of sources. The Friends of the Library often receive yearbook donations which are sold at the annual book sale in September or in the Chandler Booktique. Check on-line auction sites and used book dealers to see if they happen to have a copy of the one you want. If a school happens to have a historical society (a couple of our local schools do) then they might have a lead on where to find that particular year’s yearbook. Happy hunting!
