New times and dates for some of your favorite bookmobile stops are just around the corner. Not all of the locations will be changing.
These adjustments have been made for several reasons including;
- Increased service hours.
- More equitable coverage throughout the county based on population and usage.
- Minimizing extra travel time between stops to use less gasoline.
- Increased service time at the busiest stops.
- Morning stops will start a little earlier and the use of all day locations will eliminate time out of service for travel and setup between stops.
The new schedule begins October 1, 2012. Print copies are available on the bookmobile and in the October/November issue of ConnectNow which should be available in mid-September .

You have 3 bookmobiles around the 29th and wanamaker location in a week?? Why so many?? why not have one in the western part of the county like silver lake or rossville?? There are taxpapers out there too that helps pay for the library. I just dont understand why there is 3 stops in one area and there is none in the western part of the county

We have created the Bookmobile schedule so that we deploy Bookmobile services based on the population and usage of different areas of the community. The three stops in Southwest Topeka are based on the large population and high usage in that area. We do not have stops in Rossville and Silver Lake because those two townships have their own public libraries. Taxes in Rossville and Silver Lake support those libraries. However, we are interested in looking at adding stops further out in the county if we can find locations that will work. If you have any other questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at 580-4591. Thanks.
