Come see Jackie & the Turtles on the AdventureMobile July 23rd-27th.
If a turtle doesn’t have it’s shell, is it homeless or naked?
Did you know?
- The ornate box turtle is the state reptile for Kansas.
- When frightened, box turtles retract their head, tail, and limbs into their shell and clamp it shut.
- If you look carefully at the scutes on the carapace, you will see annual growth rings. Count them up and you have a pretty good idea how many years old it is.
- Box turtles may live more than 100 years.

Be sure to ask Jackie if her box turtles… and all turtles…. are really “reptiles.” Her answer may surprise you!
