Eric McHenry Reads from New Book of Poetry Dec. 3

Eric McHenry, local poet and Washburn University professor, shares poems and stories inspired by the witticisms of his two kids on Dec. 3 at 1-2:30 pm in Marvin Auditorium.

The poems, along with charming woodcuts depicting scenes from each piece, are published in his latest book titled Mommy, Daddy, Evan and Sage. In it Evan, 7, and Sage, 2, share their true-to-life views on the McHenry family and the greater world.

A native Topekan and fifth generation graduate of Topeka High, Eric has come back home to spend time with family, teach and become actively involved in the community his loves.

He is the author of a book of poems, Potscrubber Lullabies (Waywiser Press, 2006), which won the Kate Tufts Discovery Award and was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award.

If you are looking for that perfect gift for the holidays, copies of his book will be for sale, and Eric will be doing a book signing after his talk. A small reception will follow.

Read more about Eric and some of his older poetry on the State Library’s website.
