Thanks to Capitol Federal®, the library’s Literacy Partner,  a new bookmobile will be hitting the road next spring. The $200,000 gift from Capitol Federal® Foundation enabled the purchase of a new bookmobile. Bookmobiles are open 92 hours a week at 20 different stops. The vehicle’s age and the high amount of use they get have led to an increased number of repairs. So, hop aboard a bookmobile in 2014 for a new Bookmobile experience.

This winter many new movies hit the theaters. You might be surprised to realize how many of them are inspired by books, including 12 Years a Slave, which has received Oscar-buzz already. Flip to page 4 for more books-turned-blockbusters.

The library hosts the Local Author Fair Dec. 8 featuring 60+ writers. This is a perfect time to add to your personal library or purchase signed books for a friend or loved one. From children’s books to fantasy to poetry, come support the community’s literary culture.

Library News is delivered to library card households in Shawnee County every other month. Or, you can always read it on tscpl.org.
