There are two new cookbooks that have just recently come to the library. The first one is The Farm Chicks in the Kitchen by Teri Edwards and Serena Thompson. These two women were friends and would occasionally have a rummage sale together. They had great “stuff” and they always had great food. The rummage sale soon turned into an antique show. They would still have food but just more of it. They started their website www.thefarmchicks.com and now they have a book out that illustrates their great recipes and also their antiques. It is a fun book to look at. If you are interested in food and antiques this is the book for you.

The other new book is Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ Book by Chris Lilly. Bob Gibson started a barbeque restaurant in 1925 in Alabama and it is still going strong under Chris Lilly. Lilly has kept all of the recipes from Big Bob and added a few of his own. I tried two of the recipes this weekend and they were really good. The first was a spicy mustard coleslaw that was different than most coleslaws but very good. This recipe was also featured by Martha Stewart. The second recipe was a grilled potato salad that was delicious. It was a recipe that Lilly had created for Southern Living Magazine in 2006. If you are interested in a new barbeque cookbook, this could be the book for you. Check it out at the library and happy cooking.
