We have a new baking book and it is spectacular. Flour: Spectacular Recipes from Boston’s Flour Bakery + Cafe by Joanne Chang is really a great baking book. I first heard about it through a friend of mine who had ordered it. And then I tasted the sticky buns from the recipe in the book. Oh my goodness, they were delicious.
I saw that we had the book here in the library and I immediatly grabbed it and looked at it. The first recipe that I tried was the french lemon-poppy pound cake. Of all the recipes, I think it is the easiest. Most of the recipes do have many steps. But if they are anything like the lemon-poppy pound cake, they are worth it. This pound cake has alot of lemon in it which is right up my alley. Lemon is somthing I love to bake with. I also love the taste of lemon. It is such a clean, fresh taste. This cake is like velvet with a really nice crumb to it. I could go on and on but you really need to try it and any of the other recipes in this book.
If you are looking to try something new, check out Flour. You will be so glad that you did. Happy Cooking!!
