Young pianists to perform at the library

IIYM3

The library is hosting a unique recital on Thursday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m. performed by the talented group of pianists from The International Institute for Young Musicians L.L.C. (IIYM). Performers from all around the world will present their technical skill and musical complexity at the public student recital.

Guests will marvel at the immense expertise these young performers from around the world possess. This exceptional performance is brought to you by the talented pianists attending the 2015 International Institute for Young Musicians Summer Music Academy at the University of Kansas.

The institute, led by Dr. Scott McBride Smith, is an internationally recognized intensive course of study for young gifted pianists from around the world. Smith is the professor of piano pedagogy at the University of Kansas, and the President and Chief Executive Officer of IIYM. He created the organization in 1990 to provide music study opportunities to musical performers everywhere.

During the summer program, students are exposed to intensive study to improve their mastery of performance; they spend time practicing and performing recitals and studying with the artists on the faculty.

IIYM was developed to help assist its participants in translating their artistic visions into exceptional performances. The performers study directly under the guidance of the internationally renowned professionals teaching at IIYM’s Summer Music Academy.

The course is designed to help students improve their mastery of performance and gives them world-class opportunities. For more information, see the IIYM website and join us July 16 at 7:30 p.m. to enjoy the diverse group of musicians performing for IIYM.
