27th Annual Sunflower Music Festival
Washburn University’s White Concert Hall will feature a free concert series, the 27th annual Sunflower Music Festival, June 7th through 15th. Professional and student musicians from around the country will perform chamber and orchestral classical works, as well as a program of jazz music.
Major pieces featured this year include:
Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto
Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony
Brahm’s Piano Quartet no. 1 in G Minor
Vivald’s Spring and Winter concertos from The Four Seasons
Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony
Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony
This year, Sean Jones will be the featured jazz artist. He’ll perform at a concert on Monday, June 10th.
The Blanche Bryden Collegiate Institute will offer a concert featuring the Oma and Duquesne string quartets (Thursday, June 13th), and the Blanche Bryden High School Concert will present woodwind, string and brass chamber groups (Saturday, June 15th).
