Jessie remembers everything- her family, her life and even the accident that killed her. It was nine years ago she was reborn a zombie, and ever since she has run with her gang hunting in the woods looking for fresh meat.
Zombies are not just decomposing humans, but seem to be something completely different, and of course some zombies eat humans. The lines between humans and zombies are clear until a new creature appears. Jessie and her gang don’t know what to make of the creature, only that something is very wrong and it’s clear that things are about to change for both humans and zombies.
Dust by Joan Francis Turner is a completely new take on zombies and in the process has created an engrossing novel that explores what it means to be human. The book does have disturbing images but it also has a humanistic streak as the characters must redefine themselves and their relationships.
