Crafts is a new, adult program we are starting at the library.  Each month we will pick a theme, post several inspiration pieces on our Pinterest board, and invite you to come and craft with us.  For February, we have chosen T-shirt Crafts!  Find a t-shirt craft on Pinterest (our boards or yours), bring your supplies to make the craft, and join us for an afternoon of crafting and fun.

“Pin It Crafts” is an exciting, new program that we will be kicking off on January 19th.  Starting at 1:30pm, in the Anton Room (second floor of  the library), we will meet and discuss this new Pinterest based program. Written as a memoir, Brain on Fire reads like medical suspense novel.  The book chronicles a month of Susannah’s life – a month she can’t remember. A-Line: The dress flairs out slightly beginning at the natural waist. The silhouette of the dress almost resembles the shape of the capital letter ‘A’.
Works Well With: This style flatters almost every body type. 

Ball Gown Style

Ball Gown:This is considered the traditional wedding dress silhouette. It features a fitted bodice and a full skirt that begins at the natural waist.
Works Well With: Flattering on bride’s of average height and brides with hour-glass or full-figures. This style works well at giving the bride a small waist.

Ballerina: This style is much like the ball gown only shorter – rather than floor length, it brushes the ankles. Its considered a more “retro” look, but can also evoke Old Hollywood Glamour as well.
Works Well With: This style is best pulled off by taller brides.

Empire Style

Column/Sheath: Sleek and straight best describes the sheath dress, which is sometimes referred to as a column dress. When made a light, delicate fabric, this style is great for a summer or destination wedding.
Works Well With: This is a great choice for tall or petite slender bride.

Empire: Simply put, the waistline is above your natural waist; it usually falls at the the ribcage, just under the breast line.
Works Well With: The high waist creates a long line making this a great dress for the petite bride.

Trumpet Style

Mermaid: This gown hugs all your curves. The style is fitted all the way down to just below the knee. From there, the dress flares dramatically.
Works Well With:Hour glass shaped confident brides will do best in the mermaid style of dress.

Trumpet: A trumpet gown is similar to a mermaid in that it hugs all your curves. Frequently, the two names are used interchangeably, but; the trumpet is slightly different. The flare of the trumpet gown starts up a bit higher than the flare on a mermaid style.
Works Well With: This style also works best on the body confident bride as it draws attention to the bust, the waist and backside all at once.

Running races in your own area is a great way to support local charities while working out, but sometimes you just need to run away – a total change of scenery.  Consider a Destination Run!  Plan a vacation around a race in an area you want to visit.

Here are a few races in beautiful areas of the United States and the world you may want to consider.  But, you better hurry to sign up – many of these fill up fast!

• BolderBOULDER  – This 10K race travels through Boulder, Colorado each Memorial Weekend.  Entertainment from 31 bands and other entertainers awaits as you run through the streets of Boulder  towards the finish line inside the University of Colorado’s Folsom Field. • Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon – Ran in early June, this race sells out quickly – start watching for the 2013 Registration. The race starts and ends at Doukenie Winery in Loudoun County in Northern Virginia.  The event features four days of wine and food themed activities centered around the main event…..a scenic 13.1 mile race starting and finishing in a beautiful setting at Doukenie Winery. •  runDisney  – Disney offers several runs throughout the year from 5Ks to marathons.  Again, these races fill up quickly so plan ahead as some of the 2013 races have already sold out.  Here’s a sampling of the races:  Expedition Everest Challenge, Disney’s Princess Half Marathon, Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Ten Miler, The Tinker Bell Half Marathon and the Walt Disney World Marathon. The Travel Neighborhood has many great guidebooks to help you navigate through Disney World and the surrounding area.  Fodor’s 2012 Walt Disney World is just one of the titles you will find.

• Napa To Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon – Runners will start in the vineyards at Cuvaison Winery in Napa and finish in front of City Hall in Sonoma Plaza. The course runs through the Carneros wine region passing thousands of acres of vineyards, ranches, the Napa/Sonoma Marshes Wildlife Area, wineries and downtown Sonoma. • Original Athens Marathon (With 10K and 5K) According to legend, this race follows the same ground that the Athenian messenger Phiedippides ran when he brought news of victory from the battlefield of Marathon 2,500 years ago.   The finish line is inside the Athens Olympic Stadium. Wedding planning can be mind-boggling. If you are planning for a second time, wedding planning takes on a whole new degree of difficulty.   Here is a helpful list of wedding etiquette if you are planning a second trip down the aisle.

•   Brides rest assured – you CAN wear white!  That old belief that second-time brides need to stay away from white is a thing of the past.  Many ‘encore’ brides choose dresses in hues of champagne and ivory.  Just try to avoid a dress that closely resembles your first wedding dress.

•  When announcing your new engagement, tell your children first.  Give them time to adjust to the idea.  Next, let your parents in on the joy.  Then, if you have joint custody of young children, let your ex-spouse know.  Finally, announce your engagement to the public.

•  If you decide to go with a religious ceremony, meet with the officiant well in advance of your desired wedding date.  Some religions require extra classes or steps for marrying after divorce.

•  Go ahead and register for gifts.  Many of your friends and family are going to want to mark this occasion with a gift – help them by registering for things you may want or need.  Spread the word of your registries by word of mouth, not by inserting cards into the invitations.

•  Celebrate!  Don’t limit your reception because you’ve had one already.  Enjoy your day!  However, steer clear of trying to replicate your first reception.
