Our juried national competitions bring the best, most innovative new work together. Our sponsor, the Friends of the Library, support over $2,000 in awards.  Here in Topeka, the arts are a strong tradition.

Why Topeka Competition 30? This is the 30th time we’ve held this competition. Its prestige and celebration of three-dimensional arts and craft media bring an excited audience to the library’s Alice C. Sabatini Gallery. Our customers often tell us that the Topeka Competition is their favorite exhibit.

This year’s juror is L. Brent Kington, an internationally-known metalsmith. While he taught at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, he revived the craft of blacksmithing, rediscovered antique techniques of forging, and built a new crafts movement.

The Topeka Competition 30 will be on display in the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery April 1 – May 13, 2011.  It alternates with The Printed Image 3, our printmaking biennial. Questions about the competition? Email Sherry atsbest@tscpl.org, or call 785-580-4516.

We look forward to seeing YOUR work!
