Friday Aug 5 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm the project was here in the library so that our customers could be part of creating the Library’s banner for NOTO. “The library was a terrific venue. We were able to finish 2 original silks,” said Carol Bradbury, project coordinator.
The I GO NOTO Banner Project is a collaboration by community based artist and designer Carol Bradbury, the NOTO Project Management Board, NOTO Community Center, North Topeka Business Alliance and the People of Topeka.
Their goal is to create a series of vibrant, flower-filled banners that will line the streets of NOTO and remind us of the spectacular transformation happening in downtown North Topeka. The flowers will stand as a metaphor for NOTO, a reminder that when seeds are planted and nourished, gardens flourish.
The originals will be on display at the NOTO Community Center First Friday Sept. 2. The final vinyl banners (inspired by the original source artwork) will be unveiled and hung outside the center, running up and down North Kansas Avenue.
Stop by NOTO in the future and see if you can find the banners created by our own library customers.
