“Commemorating Our Nation’s Struggle for Freedom: A Juried Art Competition” – no fee for submission. Kansas artists 18 and older are invited to submit one piece, in any two-dimensional medium, that addresses the theme. “Since the founding of the United States in 1776, the American people have struggled to overcome racism, prejudice, and discrimination. There are many American stories that exemplify the long struggle to provide freedom and equality for all American.s One of these stories is the U.S. Supreme Court decision Brown v. Board of Education which declared separate educational facilities based on race as inherently unequal.
“Area artists are asked to submit two-dimensional art taht expresses American stories of sacrificie, struggle, and triumph in the pursuit of freedom and equality. Twenty-five selected works will be exhibited at Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site in Topeka, Kansas.”
